Payton has extensive experience in both prosecution and defence in a wide range of criminal matters. Payton regularly defends and prosecutes offences of violence including domestic violence, dishonesty offences, weapons and drug related behaviour. Payton’s practice has expanded to include a range of sexual offences including indecent images cases.

Payton’s demeanour as a calm, collaborative and respectful advocate allows him to build strong relationships with clients, solicitors, court staff and other practitioners. He prepares effectively and maintains regular lines of communication with interested parties in his cases to ensure that he is able to perform to the best of his ability. Payton’s approach of striving for excellence makes him a valuable and professional partner in any case, resulting in recognition from both lay and professional clients for his attention to detail and client care.

Through his time spent as a resident in four countries and a variety of service trips made around the world, Payton excels in connecting with individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds. He has particular expertise in working with youth, dedicating his time to both hone is knowledge in this area and through his extracurricular activities where he serves as a spiritual and moral guide for youth.

Experience

Payton Goodred-Vaucrosson completed a Bachelor’s degree in Law at the University of Manchester. He completed a Masters degree and the BPC at the University of Law - Birmingham Campus.

Payton secured pupillage as a result of being awarded the 2021 Dame Lois Browne-Evans Pupillage Award by the Bermuda Bar Association.

Before coming to the Bar, Payton worked as a security manager for the Bahai World Centre in Haifa, Israel.

Notable Cases

R v LR - Represented a youth client charged with attempted GBH. Following a successful submission of no case to answer, the judge directed a not guilty verdict.

R v SD - Sole counsel on a trial of issue involving allegations of affray and bladed article with a vulnerable defendant and complainant.

R v AR - Sole counsel in relation to 11 count indictment alleging four separate instances of domestic violence.

R v JS - Sole counsel instructed to defend in a series of theft/burglary charges committed at a private boat club.

R v AP - Sole counsel on a trial of GBH with intent with a vulnerable defendant and complainant.

R v HK - Sole counsel in multi-handed conspiracy case involving high end watches valued at £100,000.
